If you\u2019re having trouble looking for hidden files on your server with FileZilla, you may need to configure the application to show hidden files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this article, we\u2019ll show you how to do just that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/serverbd.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/how-to-show-hidden-files-in-filezilla-1024x512.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4639\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Showing Hidden Files in FileZilla Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before connecting to your server, click on the \u201cServer\u201d tab in FileZilla\u2019s menu bar and click Force Showing Hidden Files in the dropdown menu. Checking this option will force FileZilla to show hidden files and directories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/serverbd.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Showing-Hidden-Files-in-FileZilla-1024x355.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4640\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, connect to your server via SFTP. If your site is hosted on Serverbd, you can find your SFTP details in the My Serverbd dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should now be able to see hidden files on your server. In the screenshot below, there are two hidden files in our ~\/public folder \u2013 .hiddenfile and .htaccess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being able to see hidden files on your server is very important for troubleshooting WordPress. For example, if your site is stuck in maintenance mode, you can check if there is a .maintenance file in your site root that can be removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, for sites that use the Apache web server, knowing how to enable hidden files also allows you to make changes to your .htaccess file without having to reach out to your host\u2019s support team.
